I trained at the Scottish College of Textiles, graduating in 1990 with Honours in Clothing Studies.
My course gave me a solid grounding in all aspects of the clothing industry, from practical skills
such as pattern cutting and tailoring techniques, all the way to manufacturing principles,
marketing and accountancy.
1991 - 2006 were spent designing bespoke floor designs in linoleum for a firm in Kirkcaldy, a
job that involved working closely with clients, both private and major organisations such as
schools and hospitals.
Having made the decision to return to my first love of textiles, I took voluntary redundancy in
early 2006 and launched Bluebell Design in April of the same year.
As well as made to measure garments, I offer a soft furnishing service, and undertook
an intensive training course at Merrick and Day in Lincolnshire, world renowned specialists in
the field of hand stitched curtains and blinds.
Bluebell Design now offers the same high quality finish for both garments and soft furnishings,
with the emphasis on hand sewing and hand finishing, quality fabrics and a couture finish.
