You will be asked to supply measurements to enable me to provide you with an initial estimate of costs for window treatments.
Once you have ordered and paid your non-refundable deposit, I will then arrange to visit your home and take a final set of measurements.
The more accurate your measurements, the more accurate my estimated cost. Measurements that are innacurate will result in a
revised quotation. Please bear in mind that your deposit is non-refundable, so should you decide not to go ahead after my visit and
a price revision, you will lose this.
Allow yourself time and enlist the help of another person.
Use a steel tape measure. Fabric measures have a tendency to stretch.
Use either imperial or metric measurements - please don't mix the two.
Double check all your measurements carefully.
To measure for curtains
- Measure the length of your track or pole, excluding finials.
- Decide where you want the curtains to finish and measure down to this:
a) from the eye of the glider on tracks or the eye on the pole ring (this is the hook drop)
b) from the very top of the track (this is the finished length)
c) from the top of the pole, for eyelet or tab top curtains only.
To measure for blinds
- Decide if you would prefer your blind to be inside or outside the window recess.
- Draw yourself a diagram of the window and note all the measurements - never assume that two windows side by side are exactly the same, even if they look it.
Measuring inside a recess
- Measure the width of the window recess in three places (top, middle and bottom) and note the narrowest measurement.
- Measure the drop of the window recess in three places and take note of the shortest measurement.
These are the sizes your blind will be made to.
Measuring outside a recess
- Take three measurements across the width of the window including the frame and architrave and note the widest measurement.
- Decide where you want the blind to start at the top and where you want the blind to end. Measure this.
